Little Jems was inspired by the difficulties experienced by my family when trying to purchase Holy Communion wear in the North West of England particularly in the Manchester area. We were looking for dresses, veils, shoes etc. for my granddaughters, Jessica and Emily, who inspired the company name. Their mum, my daughter Clare, plays an active part in the business.
We found bridal shops with the odd dress but there was nowhere that gave a choice of styles so we resorted to the internet. There we found plenty of websites in the USA and quite a few in the UK but they were mostly in the South of England and there didn't seem to be anywhere in the North West which offered a one-stop shop for First Communion wear. We decided to rectify that and began our fledgeling business by organising sales days in church halls and schools in the region. We offered a range of dresses, veils, headdresses, shoes, accessories, gifts and cards.
We are able to supply a range of ready made dresses from various manufacturers including the Sweetie Pie collection from America. We realised, however, that one size doesn't always fit all, children are not all a standard size so we have a tailor made range of dresses which are made to measure for your child. We hope to expand this range in time.
We haven't forgotten the boys and have a selection of communion/wedding/christening wear, so that he can look really smart too.

In February 2010 we decided it was time to aquire some premises before the stock took over my house so our showroom is now open in the centre of Droylsden (full address is on the contact page) and people can come to us to view, try on and buy our Special Occasion wear.
Now approaching our second birthday and our third First Communion season, we have a bigger and better website and stock a wide variety of Christening wear for both boys and girls, a selection of party dresses and a wide range of flower girl/bridesmaid dresses which we are working hard to expand. Our website is attracting an ever increasing number of hits and many of our customers are visiting because we have been recommended to them for our excellent customer service, wide choice and reasonable prices.
We hope to continue to grow our business and trust that you will visit us one day soon.
